Overview and Services Rendered

The Corporate Services Department provides strategic and administrative support across the municipality. It ensures effective organisational governance, strong internal systems, skilled human resources, reliable ICT services, legal compliance, efficient property and fleet administration, proper records management, coordinated communication, and structured support to the Executive and Council. The Department also oversees the management of satellite municipal offices to ensure accessible services to communities across the municipal area.

Through its integrated functions, Corporate Services serves as the operational backbone of the municipality, enabling departments to function efficiently, supporting compliance with legislation, facilitating communication with stakeholders, and ensuring that municipal governance structures operate smoothly and effectively.

The Department performs the following key functions and services:

1. Stakeholder Management and Marketing Services

Services Rendered:

  • Communication and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Media relations, marketing and municipal branding.
  • Public participation processes in line with the Municipal Systems Act.
  • Management of municipal communication platforms (website, newsletters, social media).
  • Supporting Executive and Mayoral stakeholder engagements and events.

2. Human Resources Management Services

Services Rendered:

  • Recruitment, selection and appointment processes.
  • Employee relations, labour dispute resolution and collective bargaining support.
  • Skills development, capacity building and organisational development.
  • Performance management and employee wellness programmes.
  • HR policy development and compliance with labour legislation.
  • Personnel data and records management.

3. Information Technology (IT) Services

Services Rendered:

  • Maintaining ICT infrastructure, systems and networks.
  • ICT user support, troubleshooting and system configuration.

4. Property, Fleet and Records Management Services

7. Satelite Office Management

Responsible for ensuring that municipal satellite offices are functional, properly resourced and able to provide quality frontline municipal services to communities located away from the main administrative centre.

  • Coordinating administrative operations at satellite offices (e.g., customer services, billing support, complaints logging, general enquiries).
  • Ensuring adequate staffing levels and HR support for satellite office personnel.
  • Managing facilities, equipment, ICT connectivity and office maintenance.
  • Providing logistical support for service delivery programmes operating through satellite points.
  • Maintaining consistent service standards and citizen experience across all municipal offices.
  • Facilitating community access to municipal information and services at localised offices.
  • Monitoring satellite office performance and addressing service gaps.
